Greetings Unravelers and Happy Wednesday!
One of the things that I want to do more this year is spinning – but I was keeping my wheel in a place where I was unlikely to ever do any spinning. The proof of that is how little spinning I did most of last year but, all that has changed! On Monday I spent a good portion of the day rearranging things so that I have a more convenient spot to spin, AND when I want to spin it does not make normal living inconvenient! I think I have achieved success because I did some spinning on Monday, and again on Tuesday, and my plan is to do a bit more spinning today!
So far, so very good and it seems my idea is working well! My wheel has had a bit of a tune up and I am discovering that spinning is much like bike riding – you don’t forget how, even if you haven’t done it in some time!
AND! I am hovering around the 7″ mark on the body of my Evening Dew Cardigan! It feels like I have been knitting on it forever – and suddenly I have something to show for it! I still have a long way to go on this project, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
The reading this week included just one finish and a bittersweet finish at that! I finished Wild Fire, the final book in Ann Cleeve’s Shetland series. I loved this series more with each book. Jimmy Perez has grown on me and I am sad that he has solved his last murder. The writing in this series is brilliant and I highly recommend it!
Did you all hear this article on NPR? That is a very impressive top ten list – and I love how many children’s books are there!
That is all I have for today – what’s on your reading list this week?
If you wrote a post to share, please leave your link below and thank you!
I didn’t know you had a wheel! It’s so pretty ???? and I can’t wait to see your finished cardigan!
I have GOT to get to the Shetland series!
I haven’t read the Shetland books, but have really enjoyed the series on BritBox (and some of it on Netflix). Great to see all the knitwear in the series too. Evening Dew is looking fabulous – such a pretty pattern.
Hooray for your return to spinning; it sounds like you’re making a habit of it again (and that’s a good thing!) I love seeing the lovely glow of Evening Dew and will be happy to see photos of it for as long as it takes you to finish. I was surprised by the NYPL list. I wouldn’t have guessed The Snowy Day as the most-checked out and loved all the children’s books on it.
I am having a similar experience by moving my journaling things to a more accessible spot. Happy spinning!
I’m happy to hear that you’ve rearranged your space so that it’s more convenient to spin, and I hope it translates into more handspun!
Your Evening Dew just glows! It’s going to be a real stunner when it’s done.
I’m not too surprised that there are so many children’s books on that list (I would suspect that the population who most uses the library skews very young and very old), but it is surprising to me that given how high 1984 is on this list we’ve still found our country in the mess it’s in.
You have inspired me to get out my wheel. I always enjoy spinning but it is the one thing I do the least, not sure why. I find spinning very meditative and fall to rhythm of the whorl spinning.
Your sweater is coming along beautiful!
8 for 10 on that list! I LOVE The Snowy Day! Your sweater looks like it’s going to be just glorious!
Evening Dew looks… dewy! I love the bit of halo, and what a gorgeous color!
Oh the siren call of Spinning. Now and again, I wish I knew how to spin and think I should find a class. Then I wonder if I really need another set of hobby supplies. Your wheel is beautiful and I hope you post more about your spinning. What is it about that black hole of knitting? One knits and knits and seems to get nowhere – I swear I’ve had the same measurement pop up over and over. Then all of a sudden – voila the inches appear. Thank goodness. Thanks for hosting the link-up. I look forward to seeing more of your sweater.
love your sweater and how wispy it looks. I look forward to you posting about your spinning through the year. I have all of my knitting stuff in near by areas where I sit just so I can pick up and go. Each project bag has all that I need in it so I grab, and I knit. Now to remember to grab before walking out the door.
I don’t spin any more for just the reasons you mentioned – it’s not convenient to leave my wheel set up somewhere. Good for you for figuring out a way to make this work!
oh I hope you get back into a spinning routine and love it! (and not only because I have zero desire to spin but I do LOVE to see other people do it) … also, I love Jimmy Perez and my sister and I are going to listen to episode one of Cleeves’ latest soon. sigh. I wish it were a 9th Shetland instead…
Thanks for the heads up on the Shetland Series, have just reserved Raven Black – have a great 2020.
Whew that cardi is gorgeous.
I am just starting The Overstory by Richard Powers. As in chapter 1! With a lot of listening to go.
As always I love your link, thank you!
