I have not done one of these posts in ages, but we actually did some things worth discussing over the weekend!
We started Friday with the usual eats and a really good sip and then we I caught up on last week’s Seven Worlds, One Planet on BBC America.
Saturday meant a trip to the Post Office so I could get my daughter’s hat on its way and, in the afternoon, we visited Spoonwood Brewing Co and tasted some of their new brews! We also took a growler home for our very quiet Super Bowl Celebration.
Sunday, as I am sure you all heard, Punxsatawny Phil did not see his shadow and neither did Sherman. Yep, we started out with not one lick of sunshine here in the ‘Burgh, BUT!! I headed off to church in the snow and gloom and when I left one short hour later, I was greeted by BLUE SKIES and, yes, SUNSHINE!! And, a day that started with a dusting of snow ended at 52˚F. Only in Pittsburgh, I am telling you, lol.
We took the easy route with our Super Bowl eats, some Buffalo Wings and some left over Pierogi Pie (which is seriously to die for!!) and a glass or two of beer. We laughed at some of the commercials, I cried over one, and we were scratching our heads at a show all about Lego building blocks… say what? But really…how has Bubble Butt, err YoGlutes never been a thing before now??? Also, that Half Time Show was so good!
However, those clear skies stayed for the remainder of the day and when I took Sherman out for his evening constitutional, I was greeted by the moon and lots of stars (and it was still so warm out!) It looks like we will have more sunshine today with our forecast hinting at a high of 60˚F! I don’t think Phil meant an immediate return to spring, but maybe?
A weekend that welcomed February in the best way and now I might be off to find some Pretzel Pop Tarts! How was your weekend?
I didn’t watch the game (or the commercials) which is no surprise for those who know me. I will say that all your food looks delicious though! We did have a few flurries yesterday…and very grey skies, but today? It is supposed to be in the upper 50’s. Just weird!
We had the game on but I want really watching except for that ad you mentioned. I had read about it in Maria Shriver’s email and it mqde me weep. So lovely.
What a wonderful and delicious weekend you had! Your Friday night snacks always look great, but this might be one of the best. I’ve always thought it would be fun to visit Pittsburgh and hang out with you, but after looking at the Sponwood menu, it might have to be a week-long visit. There are so many things I would like to try and they’ve got great names, too. Let me know how those Pop Tarts taste!
Lots of good food in your weekend! The sun is shining today and it really makes such a difference. And I’m with you on the Lego show…
Your snacks from the weekend look terrific! I thought the game was good, the commercials were great, and the half time show . . . I’m struggling with it, I’ll admit. I wish that women performers could be empowered without running the risk of being objectified as sex symbols.
I use a Tivo at home and there’s an option with most recorded shows to skip the commercials… with the Super Bowl, there’s apparently an option to skip the game and watch the commercials!!
We are a HUGE LEGO family and I’m looking forward to that LEGO show. It’s super out there and crazy, but hey… I’d sure rather watch that than one of those stupid bachelor/bachelorette shows.
I loved the half-time show… and marvel at those women (43 & 50, did I read?)… I couldn’t move my hips like that at 20! It’s unfortunate that pearl-clutching Americans sexualize and objectify every.little.thing…
I too didn’t think Phil meant that spring would arrive that very day, but I was quite happy yesterday afternoon to see the skies clear and the sun peek out for a bit!
Looks like you had a very tasty weekend!
what a great weekend and I know your daughter will be wearing that hat all the time! Yay! Love when you share pics of your meals out. I never remember to take a photo when I’m out, I guess I’m too hungry??
Watched the game! First football I’ve seen all season – you know, Washington’s winning – not- team! Your weekend eats look de-lish! We’re enjoying “spring!” today and even tomorrow! Wahoo!
Cheers~
Sounds fabulous, Kat! I haven’t read all the posts or caught up on IG, but it seems like this weekend was just the balm we ALL needed before the real craziness of 2020 sets in. (also, I LOVE that shot of Sherman in the snow … I am incredibly hopeful Holly doesn’t see ANY snow this year 😉
Hooray for getting a hat in the mail. Your weekend sounds lovely. We had a taste of spring – 60 degrees on Sunday but back to winter today. I even managed to knit a few garter stitch rows on a shawl without too much discomfort. Sherman is quite the guy, even in the snow.
Your weekend sounds divine — I love these posts! We are also enjoying some warmer than average weather and Phil’s prediction was very welcome in our home!
Sunday was a crazy gorgeous afternoon. Yes, the Google one made me cry too, and we didn’t get the Lego one either. I did enjoy the Cheetoh’s MC Hammer one though if I’m totally honest.
