It was a wild weekend here in the Burgh! Crazy winds brought insane storms over the weekend, but the temps in the 70’s were awesome!
Steve is not working on Friday’s these days as his office is closed, but the power went out so all the pc’s turned off so no one could remote in which meant he did have drive in at a time which used to be peak rush hour traffic. On Friday however, there were less cars on the road then there is at 5am when he normally drives in. Eerie.
We did make a visit to our local TJ’s on Friday as well. We stood in line roughly 30 minutes… the sidewalk was well marked and the people in line were lovely
Friday there was a typical happy hour with French Manhattans… they were so good!
No one takes better photos of the Pittsburgh area than Dave DiCello… but his lightning photos are just crazy.
Spending this rainy, stormy evening listening to everyoneās favorite neighbor and capturing some incredible slo-mo lightning above #Pittsburgh. Donāt worry, Mr. Rogers and I are observing the required 6+ feet of social distancing.

More lightning from last night’s storms in #Pittsburgh. The reason I’m posting this one by itself and not with the 3 others in the thread is because it really stands out with the fog on the river. The lightning ‘reaching’ towards the city with glowing fog on the water was surreal pic.twitter.com/GThrXypqlf

The Monongahela River is doing its thing overflowing the wharf. This is about what my back yard looked like for most of Saturday and Sunday morning.
The Mon Wharf is closed. Hereās a look at how high the water is coming. @KDKA pic.twitter.com/Q97b2JmeDr

Sunday meant sock knitting and Negroni’s. (I don’t know if it is just me… but are you all drinking more these days?)
Then the sun came out and dried up much of the rain, so I could drag Steve out for a “forced photo shoot” (which he hates so much, lol) But anyways, here is my finished and MUCH loved Nightshift! It is HUGE and it is perfect! I only pinned the edges so they laid flat with really no stretching at all and it is so generously sized! I love it so much I **almost** wish for the tiniest sliver of cold weather to wear it a time or two…
There you have my weekend…I hope you managed to find some bright spots in yours! It seems unreal, but I will be back tomorrow with an update on my word!
I’m sorry to hear about the wild weather, but those lightning photos are really something. I thought your socks and Negronis were pretty awesome, but you saved the best for last – your gorgeous Nightshift! I love the size, colors, patterns, and the fact that you are wearing sunglasses in the photo. I do hope you get to wear it a time or two!
P.S. I do want to drink more (like starting at 9 this morning), but so far I’m resisting. So far …
Your Nightshift is spectacular! Despite yesterday’s unusually high temps, I think we’re in for more seasonable weather this week, so you may need it to curl up in at night or first thing in the morning.
I am not much of a drinker generally, maybe a glass of wine once or twice a week, but I am definitely drinking more lately. I bought quite a few bottles of wine earlier in the month, and now it’s looking like I might run out before we’re able to go out in public again. I guess I need to look for some cocktails I can make with the liquor I have on hand that won’t knock me out too much!
I am amazed you can even go to a TJ Max! Not here, fines are getting pretty hefty for breaking “stay at home”, and non-essential business staying open,[ they are not open now].
I love that sock yarn, name?
And your Nightshift is amazing. Understand why you might want a ‘wee’ bit of winter to return for a day. Come to Colorado, we get big snows in April and May!
Have a good Monday.
Oh gosh! Your Nightshift is simply glorious Kat. I love it. Love the size, love the colors, love everything about it. You may have been the tipping piece for me to order the pattern and some yarn. In a bit…not today…
Your weather looks to have been a bit stronger than ours. We were wet, but not that nasty!
I’m with Bonny – ready to drink at 9 a.m., but so far resisting. I have been having wine or a beer with lunch though….certainly couldn’t do that if I were working at my office – lol.
Gorgeous Nightshift!
Your NightShift is fantastic! You did a great job playing with all of those skeins of handspun! We had crazy thunderstorms here last night.
Nightshift is AMAZING!! I just started the bind-off on mine last night. I can tell that it’s super stretchy and am excited to see just how big it will be!
I love your nightshift and you modeling š You are gorgeous!! Our weekend was mostly drab and my spirits were low however today is a new day and the sun is out (yay) after the big computer blog catchup I hope to get down to my knitting.
Wow–your Nightshift is magnificent!
We had several inches of snow (rapidly melting, but still…) all weekend.
Your handspun Nightshift is a beautiful inspiration. I have several skeins of handspun that would work well for Nightshift or the sweater version. Iām having trouble deciding!
Oh Kat, I LOVE your Nightshift!! (and sunglasses – woot!) That sock yarn looks really interesting – is the color going to change mid-sock? that pink is amazing! (and yep, more cocktails here for sure … I found an unopened bottle of bourbon in the bar yesterday and almost CHEERED!)
Well now I’m salivating! Manhattans are my beverage of choice. And that one looks dee-lish. š
You finished it!! Beautiful! š
We had some thunderstorms on Saturday night too — it was wild! I love the pictures your shared.
Okay. That is the most gorgeous Manhattan I’ve seen! š Your Night Shift is stunning. I’ll bet you’ll be able to wear it on some cool spring evening . . .
Night Shift is gorgeous! You make the most interesting and tasty looking cocktails!
I have developed a taste for Manhattans this year, and that French one looks yummy! I shall need to acquire some orange liqueur post haste.
Love love that nightshift. As long as no one gets hurt and the damage isn’t significant, I enjoy a good thunderstorm. Great photos all the way around.
The nightshift came out great! Working from home it’s hard to not start happy hour at noon which is when it usually starts on the weekend. I’ll have to give the French Manhattan a try-sounds delicious.
