Joining with Carole and friends today to share three things that made me feel much better this week!
Thing One:
I was really concerned I was drinking too much, but Ina told me I wasn’t at all. God love her…

Thing Two:
Shelter in Poems Oh boy, did I need this!
Thing Three:
Queue the Music… today is Steve’s birthday!
And, I spent most of yesterday baking him a cake!
I just have one question…what the hell did I do before I had sourdough starter?
Happy Birthday Steve!!! And that cake looks delicious. I saw the Ina Garten IG post – lol. What a beautiful poem. Hope you are doing well Kat. Have fun celebrating Steve and his birthday today!!
Oh. My. God. I LOVE that Ina clip! As well as your preceding comment–and ‘Phil’s,’ too. I laughed so hard I couldn’t quite collect the due reverence for Emily Dickinson. I’ll admit it. (II should try harder.)
Thanks for the distance learning break, Kat 🙂 Not that the Civil War and counting by 4’s and giving a spelling test and writing descriptive sentences of a cow in a field HAVEN’T been awesome. But this really took the cake, so to speak. I hope the quarantine birthday was a happy one! We know it will be memorable 🙂
Happy Birthday, Steve!!
That Ina post is HILARIOUS!! I wasn’t sure it was her when I first saw it, because I’ve seen a few parodies, but lo & behold… AND SHE IS AWESOME!!
Only Ina would have a martini glass and shaker bigger than my head! Happiest of birthdays to your Steve.
Happy Birthday, Steve! I just started my starter yesterday, but it already smells yeasty and a bit sour. I’m excited! Thanks for the much-needed poem. I’ve read it many times before, but now I’m really reading and gaining new meaning. And thanks also for the reassurance from Ina!
I saw the Ina cocktail video yesterday and it cracked me up. That poem is one of my all time favorites. And Happy Birthday to Steve! Enjoy your cake, man!
Happy birthday to Steve! I’m anxiously waiting to hear how that cake tastes, because it looks fabulous!
Did you hear that Pennsylvanians crashed the PLCB website last night when they decided to allow online sales? Sounds like we’re all embracing the inner Ina in us!
Love the cake, love Emily Dickenson’s “Hope” poem (that one always causes a catch in my throat!) and love, love, love the Beatles. Happy birthday to Steve!
Don’t know why that comment showed up there as a reply. Woops…sorry about that!
Happy Birthday to Steve!! and sigh … I wish you’d bake me a cake 😉 and that Ina video made my “daily joy” list yesterday (today, Marc finally watched it and is LOL reaction might’ve made today’s too.)
Happy Birthday Steve! Sourdough chocolate cake?! Yum! King Arthur has the best sourdough recipes – I love how much you’re using your starter!
Happy weekend, Kat. I hope it treats you well!
Happy birthday Steve!! May you have a wonderful day filled with happiness. I saw the Ina post on twitter, too too funny. Have you been following Andrew Lloyd Weber? he is a breath a fresh air 🙂 He is starting a youtube channel to stream his musicals!
That Ina clip! It just makes my day! I hope Steve had a great birthday celebration — maybe with a Cosmo-in-a-fish-bowl! XO
