Joining Carole and friends this week!
Thing One:
Did you see that John Meacham has a new podcast? I have listened to the first two episodes and it is well worth a listen!
Thing Two:
I know a few of you are obsessed with play Animal Crossings: New Horizons. Did you all see this???
Yes, Knitlandia proudly supports the Biden Harris ticket!
Thing Three:
In the everything old is new again theme…Did you hear about The House Dress on NPR? Apparently it is the new it thing! So, now all I will need is an apron and I can be my Nana!
And that’s a wrap for this week! See you all back here on Monday!
I think the House Dress is a trend I can get behind. It’s comfy and there’s actually a possibility I could make one!
LOL – I bought a couple of Tee-shirt dresses a couple of months ago and they are SO comfortable! Cooler than shorts or leggings in this humidity. (And they don’t look like my Grandmother’s dresses – lol.) Bonus: I have some of my Mom’s aprons from the 50’s and 60’s!!
I DID see that–in fact, I saved it! I’m so much more a dress person than pants. Any pants. I’ve always found anything sans-a-crotch *far* more sensible…and comfortable…. And I hate the comment, “Why are YOU so dressed up?” Each time, I wonder to myself, how is a straight, button-up dress (for example) ‘dressed up’ when it was a million times easier than button pants, layered shirts, etc. We’re talking one simple slip-on garment vs. multiple pull-ons! Bring on the housedresses!! (Can you tell you struck a chord with me?)
Cool yard signs; I hope they work! I never thought I’d wear a house dress but I will admit to browsing Etsy. Have a good weekend, Kat!
I heard the trailer for Meacham’s podcast this morning – I think I’m going to suggest it to my small group – we’ve read and loved his books, especially The Soul of America. Of course I know nothing about Animal Crossing, but I have loved seeing those yard signs crop up on my Instagram feed. Enjoy the weekend!
This summer I bought a couple of simple t-shirt dresses and a mumu and they have been my favorite pieces of clothing this year, especially on the hot, humid days.
I’ve been without AC since before my vacation when my Switch died and had to be shipped off to Nintendo for repair. I sure hope I get it back soon!
Thanks for the tip on the podcast! I can’t wait to listen!
I’m totally here for the house dress. I agree with all of the comments about how it’s so much easier to wear a dress than pants. And I hate waist bands. They just seem to get smaller and smaller.
I don’t know anything about Animal Crossing, but is Knitlandia YOUR house? Because if it is, you go girl! I love it!
all I ask myself is ‘do I need a nintendo switch lite?’ and ‘ do I need animal crossings?’….I keep resisting the purchase!!
I saw on the news that the lawn signs would be on animal crossings which is awesome.
My house dresses are also called NIGHTGOWNS!! Haha.
Oooh I think I could join the house dress thing. I much prefer a dress to trousers and often wear a dress at home when I am not planning on going anywhere. Perhaps I am already there!
I have one skirt, one knit dress, and a willow dress that I sewed last fall. I really enjoy wearing them. Since my only outing is the grocery store I have thrown on a skirt or the willow dress. It’s amazing how many people remark about the willow dress. I have two books about the history of aprons. Ten or so years ago I went to an apron exhibit in a small town museum and fell in love with the history.
