“If you’re reading this…
Congratulations, you’re alive.
If that’s not something to smile about,
then I don’t know what is.”
― Monsters Under Your Head
Welcome to Week 6 of Hope. This week, I found that humor is a necessary element of hope… especially after listening to Billy Collin’s “The Present” last week. I had read this poem previous, but hearing it early Saturday morning I was struck by the truth of it. Leave it to Billy to make clear that staying in the moment is… futile. I chuckled about it all week!
Another thing that brought a huge smile to my face is the fact that The White House has dogs in residence again! I am entirely smitten with Champ and Major and some brilliant person has given the First Dogs a Twitter account. They are absolutely worth a follow!
Final funny for the week… I am stuck on Bobble Island. This is nothing like Sleeve Island… it is bumpy, and there is lots of going back and forth. I could find myself trapped here and that thought is terrifying… and I still have what feels like eleventy-billion bobbles to go!

Finally! An accurate photo of the color of my Heart Warmer!
I hope you find some humor this weekend! See you all back here next week!
LOL – Bobble Island and I love making bobbles. I can’t wait to get to that section (and hoping I have notjust jinxed myself…). I really like the color of your Heart Warmer Kat – it will go with EVERYTHING!!
Thanks for “The Present,” Kat! (I haven’t picked up The Rain in Portugal yet—but did send it to my brother for his birthday, as he’s the one who introduced me to B.C. sometime in the ‘90s…) And it IS so good to have dogs back in the White House. It just seems RIGHT. That Twitter account should provide some laughs 🙂 Happy weekending to you! Good luck with the bobbles!
that grey yarn is really beautiful
I refuse to do bobbles, they do not bring me joy, I did a simple yarn over knit two together as a substitute and liked how much yarn I saved in the end.
Thanks for that poem, The Present! My mind is not able to stop and focus for long. If I try to meditate – It is always veering off to other thoughts.
That is a lovely color for your yarn.
Have a safe and fun weekend!
Very pretty! I agree, bobbles are time consuming.
I love that the Biden’s have dogs in the White House – they are gorgeous!!
Oh boy – I’ve never done bobbles because they seem like a nightmare. I hope it’s all worth it in the end!!
Oh boy, bobble island sounds worse than sleeve island to me! At least it looks like your yarn is lovely to work with, which I hope makes up for all the back and forth.
I’ve never ventured to either Bobble Island or Sleeve Island, but I am in that particularly sloggy part of Hitchhikers (knitting beyond 42 teeth and wondering when will it end). Thanks for The Present and pointing us towards humor and hope!
Eleventy million bobbles is a lot of bobbles. I don’t think I’ve ever knit even one. I’m not sure they are going on my bucket list though. The cowl is pretty. I love grays, even in the winter.
I enjoy knitting bobbles, though 11million, not sure I would be up for that. I bet it will be beautiful!
