I haven’t done a “weekending” post in eons. Thank you, Pandemic Living for making weekends utterly unsharable! How many different ways can you say… ummm, we did the same thing as every other weekend.
Well, this weekend was the not like the previous weekends, so I thought it was “share-worthy”!
We started out on Friday heading off to IKEA… it was busy. So busy. Too busy. Pre-pandemic, I would not have even given a thought to all those people… but now? Being in a group of people is just not comfortable… so we rushed and did not get everything we came for…sigh. So we went back first thing on Saturday. However, we were smarter about our second trip. I looked up where the things were that we needed to get, made a list and we were in and out in less that 20 minutes and only saw 4 people. Why did we need to go to IKEA you ask? Well, we needed to replace our outdoor table and chairs. And we needed rubber backed rugs. The remainder of Saturday involved deconstructing the old patio furniture and building the new patio furniture. We also put the awning up on the pergola so we are ready to go on the next “moderately warm day” to eat outside. It was the perfect day to do all that work. It was sunny, but not at all warm. I wore a lopapeysa and was NOT too warm at all! We got a bigger table so I need to rethink the patio plants, but I am excited for the possibilities! Oh, and Sherman… well, as you can see he was took his supervisory role seriously, NOT! Ha…rather, he soaked up the sun and slept during the work. Thankfully, we completed the task with out his help! LOL
I also picked up another Råskog cart from IKEA to give some semblance of order to my “spinning corner” in the living room. (versus having things just laying around on the various flat surfaces) I spent some time on Sunday putting it together and organizing it. I think this is going to be an excellent addition and I love that I can see things, but they are not laying around!
Finally, we purchased 8 rubber backed bathroom rugs. Yes…8. Why so many you ask? Well, recently Sherman has struggled to walk on the wood floors. He slips and falls all the time. So I had a conglomeration of rugs and/or towels down for him… but they slipped around almost as much as he did! So, now Sherman has a non-slip “path” to get from the dining room to the living room and he LOVES it! We probably won’t win any house decorating awards, but a happy pug makes me happy.
There was also a bit of Happy Houring, some corned beef cooking, and… perhaps best of all… I managed to get COVID vaccine appointments this afternoon for Steve’s dad, Steve, and myself! Shot one will soon be done and I am so incredibly happy about that! AND! We survived time-change (but back to zero-dark thirty to walk Sherman, sigh) Hahaha!
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend too!
LOL – Sherman Super Highway! What a great idea. And that picture of Sherman in the sun is just so good Kat! Love your new table and benches. So many people use those carts for everything! Glad you got one to organize your spinning things. Only 20 here this a.m., but at least it’s not snowing!!
I miss Ikea….Sherman is living the life having his royal carpet to not slip on as he walks the walk. Frodo his beside me under a blanket because he’s too cold with his hair cut that is NOT that short…boys. Loved seeing a peek at your crafting stuff.
We also ventured to an Ikea this weekend – 3rd time this year. The first two times were high stress discomfort with too many people in that maze with us. This time , both fully vaccinated, and wow peace of mind.
Sherman deserves his pathway!
Sounds like a busy and productive weekend! And we have that same . . . scatter rug situation . . . in our house. Not terribly attractive, but so helpful for an aging dog on a slippery floor!
Isn’t it funny that something that might have been simple in the Before Times sounds like a whole lot of excitement now?! I thought, “Wow, Kat had a full weekend with two trips to Ikea, all that assembling and redoing!” Your new table and benches look great, your spinning stuff is ready at hand, and I LOVE that you made Sherman a Super Highway! And the vaccine appts. are the highlight! Get your shot and start producing those antibodies!
I’m awaiting news of possible vaccination appointment!! Fingers crossed.
Sounds like a delightful ready-for-spring weekend! So glad to hear you got the three of you scheduled! That qualifies you as a Miracle Worker. (We’ve been logging in non-stop for my brother…no luck yet. It’s a rather frustrating system.) Glad to hear Sherman’s got a runway 🙂
Ikea is an adventure even when it’s not during a pandemic, I admire your persistence and bravery but get that it was totally worth it for Sherman’s comfort! Congrats on those shots, too! Mine went perfectly this morning and although my arm is a little sore it’s totally worth it.
i’m glad Sherman likes his new rugs! He is such a cute dog!
Even though I’m vaccinated, I am still uncomfortable in crowded stores, in fact my sister & I walked in and right back out of Home Goods this weekend because we were so uncomfortable. Glad to hear you will be able to get vaccinated soon!
Sounds like a lot of fun for a weekend! Glad you got what you needed and put it all together. We had rugs when my dear Max had trouble getting his feet under him. But it seemed he would never be on the rugs when he needed help so we would have to hoist him up wherever he was. Good luck and stay safe.
Ugh, I think IKEA is the last place I’d like to be right now — even in prepandemic times I got claustrophobic in there! I’m loving the new patio furniture. I expect you’re going to get a ton of use out of it once it warms up for good. And congrats on the vaccine appointments! I’m still patiently waiting, but kiddo had remote school today because apparently a lot of her teachers got their shots and were having side effects.
Oh my word, that picture of Sherman! How perfect is he?! I’m glad you figured out how to get what you needed from IKEA and still feel safe!
And congrats on your vaccine appointments! I’m also still patiently waiting and am okay with that because so many are at a much higher risk of getting seriously sick than I am… but I know I’ll be relieved and happy when I can finally get my own!
(PS – when I was growing up my Uncle Bobby had a few different pugs, all of whom were named Ralph. Pugs will always be Ralphs to me, but I’m trying to get used to calling this one Sherman!)
WOOHOO for all the things, especially the promise of spring (with new furniture and a refreshed outdoor space), happy houring, and most of all – VACCINES!
Hip Hip Hooray for your weekend and especially the vaccine appointments. Doesn’t that make the day just a little brighter – or a lot? We need throw rugs among a few other household things. Once we have our second vaccine, I have a little shopping to do. The cart with the spinning things is a great idea. I feel better when I can corral my supplies.
