A bit of a random brain dump this morning… sorry about that.
This morning I am a bit “foggy” because I got another COVID booster shot yesterday. I had thought to wait till the fall but COVID numbers have been on a sharp incline here in Allegheny County so I went and got boosted. This morning I am having a lovely little immune response as the vaccine wakes up my t-cells and my plan is to queue up some PBS shows and sit on my new sofa. (yes… the sofa parts were delivered on Thursday! Woot!)
I wore my Tegna all weekend…. and it is too big. The fabric in the sweater is not behaving like the fabric in my swatch. Sigh. I am contemplating what to do. I do NOT want to unravel the entire thing, but maybe half way and shorten it a bit. On my list for this week… knit a couple of swatches that I can seam together and see how that holds up.
I started the Mystery Gnome this weekend… and clue two is out today! (stay tuned for a bigger update on Wednesday!)
I also started Sam’s sock… cuff as swatch told me that my gauge was a bit off so I did some Knitty Maths and cast on again yesterday. I have almost 3″ done (again) and I am using Wise Hilda’s Basic Ribbed sock pattern. (Ravelry Link)
Finally, I have been playing with the (pseudo) macro function on my iPhone.
That is all I have for this Monday. See you all back here on Wednesday!
Great minds and all that … I was also going to wait until fall for my second booster but I heard an unsettling statistic on NPR. It used to be that hospitalizations and death occurred in only ~10% of vaccinated people; now it’s 50%, thought to be due to waning immunity. I’ve got my booster scheduled for Wednesday. I wish you soaring antibody levels, newly activated t-cells, and that you feel better soon.
Is that top purple flower bee balm? It looks like it, but I’ve only seen red blossoms, never that lovely purple!
Very pretty photos Kat. And sorry about Tenga! Wishing you luck in changing that or adapting it or whatever (I am not confident enough to do that kind of thing). We went ahead and got our 2nd boosters in April – glad we did with higher numbers all over and we were fortunate and had no reaction to the shot (other than being a little tired…but that seems to be the norm for us anyway!).
I got my second booster a couple of weeks ago. I got it on a Sunday and was back to work on Monday. Mainly I felt like I got punched in the arm, HARD!
Is that macro of an African violet flower? Beautiful!!! 🙂
Unlike the first booster, which knocked both Smokey and I into bed for 3+ days, the second booster aftermath was a nothing burger. Okay, now I am going to attempt to identify the plants pictured: monarda, aka bee balm; African violet, double-flowered; basil, maybe Thai basil: coleus. How did I do?
Sounds like you have a winner plan for your shots effects. Re: your Tegna. In the words of La Harlot, “Swatches lie!” I hope you are able to correct it without too much ripping out.
Love that African violet bloom! Wow! Sounds like you are perfectly lined up to enjoy that sofa…so, not terrible timing for the booster :).
I’m so conflicted on the booster because my doctor specifically told me to wait – but that was back in February. Now I’m not sure what to do and cases are rising in my area. I’m actually a close contact right now, unfortunately. Sorry about Tegna, that must be really frustrating.
I hope your PBS day on the sofa worked its wonders! and good luck with the Tegna – it just feels wrong when you do all the right steps to swatch, etc. and the FO doesn’t behave like you expect.
I had my booster a while ago now (I’m on a different schedule than most people my age . . . because of my autoimmune issues) and the 2nd booster caused no side effects for me — except a sore arm. Such a welcome change. My Tegna, as I believe I told you, went to Goodwill. It was huge. I couldn’t bear having it around, and I wasn’t going to try again. Best of luck to yours as you figure out How Fix! Enjoy your (new) Sofa Time! XO
PS – Is that last photo a tri-colored beech??? It looks a lot like mine, unfurling now in my garden.
Beautiful photos Kat. We also got boosted because we have some travel plans in the near future. I hope your antibody level goes up and the side effect symptoms decrease. At least you have a new sofa.
Second boosters are only being offered in England to people who need to be extra careful. I suspect we will get them in the Autumn with our flu ones. Hope you feel better after a sofa day. I love your photos.
Wow – you got some really gorgeous photos. So pretty! I am sorry that your booster is causing you such trouble and hope you feel better soon!
I hope by now you’re feeling better. I’d like to get another booster, but I’m not yet eligible (and according to the Red Cross, I’m still testing high for antibodies), so I’ll wait and see when they recommend I can get mine. Sorry about Tegna, too. I suppose this is why people don’t swatch! I am confident that once your brain is sharp again, you’ll figure out how to fix it.
