I don’t know about you, but I have found since I turned the “50’s” corner, I have struggled mightily each year with an ever worsening case of the dreaded Dry Winter Skin!
Usually, by mid-February, there is not enough moisturizer in North America to make a difference. But this year, I have found some things that are working… and not only working but making a difference! I thought I’d share my finds with you all!
First, a several weeks ago Kym had raved about this product so, of course, I clicked the link and poked around a bit on the JVN website. I not only picked up her recommendation, but I also got a bottle of this scalp oil… and for the first time in a very long time my scalp is not dry and flaky! Once a week, a few drops massaged into my scalp before I wash my hair and the results are so good! No dry, itchy, flaky scalp any longer!
Next “problem” dry skin area for me are my poor feet…over the years I have tried what feels like a gazillion products to combat dry, cracked skin and had no success with any of them. That is until I saw an “ad” on IG of all places for Aquaphor Healing Balm Stick. It says “Immediate Relief” on the label and oh.my.gosh… it is immediate relief! An added bonus is that I give myself a mini foot massage when I rub it in and my hands are loving it as well!
The final find that I have to share with you came because my “usual” face cleanser was no longer being made by Aveeno… grrr. I really loved what I was using and I hate when a product I love gets discontinued. So I was forced to find something new… and though it took a few product “tries” I have found my new go to face wash. It is L’Oréal Age Perfect Nourishing Cleanser. It is not drying even with daily use!
And there you have it… three things that are making my winter so much better!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! See you all back here on Monday!
Thanks! This is helpful.
First time I’m commenting here, and I love your blog! Just have to tell you all that Aquaphor is fabulous for lips, hands and feet! -Ricki????
It is so frustrating when a product gets discontinued! Aveeno discontinued the facial moisturizer that I’ve used for years and I’m not very pleased with the product they replaced it with…so the search is on for a good moisturizer!
Aveeno discontinued my daily face lotion. And the hair styling product I’ve used on my short hair is gone, trying a men’s styling product instead. So frustrating!
I rounded the 60s corner a few years ago, so your advice is quite timely! I think I’ll be getting one of those aquaphor sticks to use on my poor feet and cuticles. I’m with Debbie, searching for a new facial moisturizer. If you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
Well, this is very useful. This year I am struggling to moisturize. I’m going to be looking for the aquaphor stick. For years I swore by Neutrogena hand cream but it doesn’t seem to work as well this winter. I have a feeling I’m the one who has changed.
I don’t know if you have Vaseline in the states. Anyway I apply that to the soles of my feet from time to time at bedtime. Then wear an old pair of socks to sleep in. Come morning all hints of dry skin have gone.
I haven’t heard of or tried the Aquaphor stick, but the original is what I’ve been using on my lips for years, and it’s great on all skin. I also love my lotion bars from LoLo Body care. I rub one between my hands well before bed and it helps my hands keep from cracking and bleeding this time of year.
First, I adore every JVN hair product I’ve tried! (And now, let’s just say . . . I’ve tried many of them.) They make my hair feel great, behave well, and smell divine! 🙂 And Aquaphor ANYTHING is a hit for me! So glad you’re finding some products that work . . . to get you through these drying days of winter! XO
This is a great post. I use vaseline on my heels after my shower and it works great but will check into the Aquaphor.
I’m so with you on the dry skin! I use CeraVe for my facial cleanser and moisturizer and I also use their Vitamin C serum and that really helps. My feet, though – gah! I haven’t had a pedicure since before the pandemic started and it shows!
