Greetings Gentle Unravelers and Happy Wednesday!
I have finished my *third* pair of socks this year! What??? I don’t know who these socks will be for, but they are going in the Gift Bag for someone! I am going to cast on another pair pronto… I have some Vintage Lorna’s Laces in the most delightful colors. I am a bit concerned about pooling, but I am going to give the yarn a go! Same pattern, I think… Hermoine’s Everyday Sock is such a fun knit!
I also have the start of my Valkyrie!! Barely… but yes, started!
But really, stitching is on my mind… lots and lots of stitching! I have another page completed! (all the work time on this one was in the appliqué of the flowers!) I recently had the opportunity to take a Dream Bird class from Jo Avery and I learned some incredible tips for the appliqué process. I wanted to cement them in my mind, so I took the opportunity with a page.
I really want to learn EPP (English Paper Piecing)… and have been watching videos and IG for some inspiration. Once the 100-day project is finished, I am going to give it a try with a small project (no quilts… yet, lol!) One small project to dip my toes in is a good place to start!
The reading dam broke this week, and I have three finishes! And this week, I find myself back in St. Denis with the intrepid Police Chief Bruno Courrèges… it feels good and of course, there is a murder! Haha! I am also reading another Netgalley book, Agony Hill by Sarah Stewart Taylor (another murder mystery… with some mysterious characters as well!) The cure for any reading slump for me is to settle in with a good mystery… and double mysteries are even better!
There you have my week! What about you? What are you thinking about this week!
As always, If you wrote a post to share please leave you link below and thank you!
That new sock yarn is just so pretty. I love the colours. Well done on the stitching and the reading. Yes a good mystery helps if in a bit of a slump. Have a great week.
Nice to read that your reading slump is over (mine seems to be also!). Your latest pair of socks is so pretty and that new yarn! What pretty and Springy colors. Your stitching project continues to be a joy to see Kat. It’s obvious that you are having such fun with it. And now you are even contemplating paper piecing!! I do NOT need another hobby so I will watch from the sidelines…am curious and anxious to see what you do!
I think the Hermoine’s Everyday Sock pattern is the most perfect sock pattern — especially for potentially-pooling yarns. It’s fun to knit, it fits great, and it adds just the right amount of texture. (I knit a few pairs in that pattern, back when I used to knit socks on the regular.) I’ll be eager to see how your Lorna’s Laces knits up in it! And I’m so happy to hear about all your stitching! What fun, Kat!
What colorway is that Lorna’s Laces? It looks quite like some I used in socks many years ago.
I’m glad to hear the reading slump is over! And that you’re going to try some new stitching! I’ll be following your EPP closely because I’m intrigued by it.
Sarah, the colorway is “Lakeview”
my knitting has been slow going but at least I am knitting a little bit while I wait for a flare to finish. I hope to have more socks finished in my future.
If no one hears from me until, oh, sometime in April, it’s because you linked to Jo Avery and I can’t get myself out of that rabbit hole! 🙂
What beautiful socks. And what a beautiful thing to have a gift stash at the ready! So much spark here, Kat.
Jo is a delightful rabbit hole to get lost in! (sorry, not sorry!)
I think I have that color of Lorna’s Laces in my stash, too! I’ll be interested to hear how you like paper piecing. I tried it back when I quilted a lot and it was not for me. Glad you got some good reads in this week.
Lorna’s Laces… I’m sure there’s still a ton out there in people’s stash, but that old label makes me nostalgic. 😉
I actually finished a book last night!!!
Your sock yarn is scrumptious! You can always pop a pair of socks into a gift bag and post over to England, anytime Kat tee hee.
Have a lovely week.
Your latest socks are wonderful! I think I also have a skein of that same Lorna’s Laces and maybe someday I should consider a pair of Hermione’s Socks. I’m also reading Agony Hill. I haven’t gotten very far but the beginning is intriguing!
Terrific finished socks. I honestly don’t mind pooling if it doesn’t occur in a sweater. My computer once again heated up and was in the shop. This is getting monotonous. Sometimes a good mystery is just the thing. It sounds as if you have found some good ones.
