The thinnest yellow light of November is more warming and exhilarating than any wine they tell of. The mite which November contributes becomes equal in value to the bounty of July. — Henry David Thoreau
I love November light especially in the early mornings at sunrise, which have been so lovely recently, I just love the glow the sun gives to the trees that still have leaves!
I also enjoy all that November holds in her days: Election Day – tomorrow (if you haven’t voted, please go vote), Veterans Day – next week, and Thanksgiving Day – later this month! These are some of the best parts of November and I will also celebrate a beloved son-in-law’s birthday this month as well.
Those things aside, I do have some things I need to accomplish this month! It is a short list, but that does not mean it will be simple to accomplish!
- Plant this box of bulbs. The daffodils and alliums will be the easiest things to get done… but I have 50 grape hyacinth bulbs, which are supposed to bloom over several months, that I want to plant in a “challenging” area in my yard. My hope is that this plethora of hyacinths will fill a dull area with some color once the snowdrops are done!
- Figure out how to get back to my daily painting practice. I have not picked up a brush since Franklin arrived and I miss it terribly.
- Catch up my Autumn Pages… I am woefully behind. Stitching + Franklin might be the greatest challenge of the month, but I know what I want to do! I just need to pull the fabrics and get them cut out and stitched down. My last pages turned out wonderfully but they are still not done!! I need to add some leaves to the “moon tree” and the date and time. Small bits, but I need to figure out a way to work this into the schedule!
And there you have my November intentions! Wish me luck fulfilling them!
What about you? What do you hope your November holds?
Wishing you (and Franklin) all the best in November! I LOVE your sunset and moonrise stitching, and hope you find time for stitching and planting. I don’t have a lot of November plans, but the biggest is reknitting the too-small blue hat for Justin. It hopefully won’t take me a whole month to do that!
November is a fun month. I love the light . . . and the change in season. Our October was really busy and somewhat hectic. I’m looking forward to a general slow-down and settling-in. I’ll bet you’ll figure out a way to get back into your painting soon! XO
I love how you set these intentions. I hope you find a way to pick up your paintbrush this month!
I’m always so torn about the holidays. I love how cozy they can be but always dread the hosting duties and all of the negatives that come along with that. It’s always a relief when people leave on Thanksgiving and we can finally relax and just enjoy each other.
I, too, love November light. It always seems so golden and warming. No real plans for us. Hunkering down and being cozy. We will most likely be on our own for Thanksgiving – C&M just want to stay home alone (understandably – M’s due date is 12/4). Mailing’s parents are traveling again – her Mom is in China and her Dad has been in Japan and Korea. I’m kind of looking forward to a quiet time.
I’m sure Franklin is quite the distraction and you will get back to your regular creative practices once he gets a little older! I really like your stitched pages. The tree on the right also makes me think of a hand reaching for the moon.
I know November will be pretty quiet for me, mainly because I can’t go out and do much, but I think I will welcome that calm. I am most looking forward to the arrival of my niece and then being together with everyone for Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday!
I imagine you will get back to stitching and painting as Franklin settles in. I do love your stitched pages to date. I came up with four words as an intentions in November: Grace, Acceptance, Joy, Love. They are a tall order but onward I go. We have several November birthdays in my family along with Thanksgiving and our wedding anniversary.
It’s like having a newborn isn’t it – you don’t know whether to rest while they are sleeping or get on with the things that need doing because you can’t do either when they are on the go
Finish – that is what I hope to do in November. Finish anything on the go…in the Knitting Reading Sewing line that is. That stuff beginning with H never gets finished😊
I hope November holds lots of good things like a finished home renovation project and the words Madam President!
I am thinking of how I want my November to be as well. I would love to do a deep clean but I don’t want to actually spend time doing it. Maybe one hour a day?? I need to get into my art practice, seeing yours inspires me. Enjoy that puppy time!!
