Greetings Gentle Unraveler’s and Happy Wednesday!
First, I apologize for the low light photo… it was a rainy day with little to no light here. But we desperately need the rain, so I am not complaining.
There has been a bit of making this week… thank goodness! As you can see, I have made some progress on the Marling Scarf and with each slight color change, I am loving it even more. My motivation is the wonder at what the next color will bring… and so I press on with these methodical knits and purls. I have shifted away from my first “constant” color as I meander my way back through the micro-swatches and the delight of never changing more than one color is just magical to me. One color can be a dramatic change… or the subtlest. I have roughly nine color changes to go to completion… which is still a lot of knitting!
I also took one afternoon when you know who was napping and set up my calendar pages through the end of the year. It feels good to at least have my calendar set up… even if not much is getting done.
Mornings are an especially rough time for Frankie… he has all the pent up energy from having slept (most of) the night. So my morning time has been non-existent… although I am trying to write this post while keeping him occupied with an array of toys. The “teething” bone is the winner most days but even with that he has a short attention span. So forgive me if this post seems a bit disconnected!
I did manage to finish some books this week! AND!! I also caught myself up with book reviews… I am such a slacker! I am currently listening to Louise Erdrich’s latest novel, The Mighty Red and loving it! At night I can’t seem to keep my eyes open past a sentence or two but hopefully these middle of the night trips outside will be over soon!
What about you? What are you focused on this week?
As always, if you wrote a post to share please leave your link below and thank you!
This feels like the week for “recovery” to begin! I do love that color-change scarf and I’m glad you’ve found knitting that is working for you. And I’m also rediscovering all that I missed in not being able to focus on reading for several weeks. It’s lovely to be able to do that again. You’ve also got Frankie keeping you quite busy and that is just as it should be. Enjoy!
P.S. We’re getting some real rain tonight and tomorrow and I am thrilled!
Oh gosh! Your marled scarf is coming along so nicely Kat and it is gorgeous. It just looks so rich. Glad to hear that Franklin is at least letting you do some things (if only in moderation) like knitting and reading. Like Bonny, we are expecting some “real” rain later and that will be so welcome.
I’m glad to hear you’re taking advantage of when Franklin is napping (it’s just like having a baby!). As exhausting as those mornings might sometimes be, it’s got to be good for the soul to watch the antics of a puppy. The wrap is looking really good and like it’s a great meditative project to work on. Let’s enjoy the rain while it lasts — it’ll turn to some white stuff tomorrow and Friday!
Oooh, that marling is gorgeous! Love all those colors.
The colors of your scarf are beautiful and so perfect for this time of year. The puppy phase will be over before you know it even though it might not feel like it right now.
Oh, puppies! They are so much work. (So. Much.) But so worth it in the end! I think Frankie is a perfect distraction right now — full of joy and fun. Who couldn’t benefit from some extra snuggles these days? The scarf is really lovely — the colors and the pattern and the tweedy-goodness are a winning combination. XO
That’s a great collection of autumnal looking colours – just right for a comfortable cosy scarf to keep your neck warm. It will have an interesting look (and feel I think) when it’s finished.
Hopefully it’s a while before the cold cold windy ‘need a scarf’ weather arrives.
Puppyhood is short thank goodness but it feels like it lasts forever. I need to set up my jan-mar calendar pages, I have many events that need to be put in place. The knitting looks wonderful!
Funny enough, our partially-abled 10-yr-old puggle is experiencing ‘rewing to puppyhood’ in her energy level + engagement lately, so I got out one of her fun puzzles. I recommended this to Vicki when she was looking for advice on behalf of a busy pup… This ‘puzzle’ can be used as a food bowl alternative; I use it for mid-day snacks (something as simple as a single Cheerio per ‘box,’ if you don’t want to add calories). It’s fun. And while it’s meant to keep her busy, it also draws MY attention, because it makes me happy to watch her find/solve it. 🙂

Happy week-ending to all of you there.
That knitting project is so beautiful. Watching the colors shift sounds almost magical. And couldn’t we all use some magic these days? I’m glad you have had some rain.
