… anyone else finding the struggle to be all too real as we “sprung ahead” an hour Saturday night?
Yesterday I missed the light on my once again dark o’clock walk with Frankie. And said walk was back to silence… no birdsong to cheer us on our way because it was too dark! This mornings early constitutional was a silent affair as well.
I did find the weatherperson’s logic on “there is more daylight” curious…. I hate to burst his bubble… moving the clock does not give one an extra hour of daylight. It is the almost same amount of daylight as the day before.
I have a most substantial list this week that includes finding a handyperson to install a clothes pole/line in my back yard. Yes, I am circumventing Steve entirely because I actually want the clothes line installed.
I hope that if your Monday includes a list that is manageable and that your struggle with the time change was easy!
See you all back here on Wednesday!
I moved the clocks ahead around 8:00 on Saturday night and went to bed because I had a headache. That seemed to work relatively well as I didn’t feel like I was suffering from the time change when I woke up Sunday morning. Here’s hoping you can find someone to install your clothesline. This week is supposed to be warmer here (65 today) so I have plans to was all the sheets and towels and hang them out. I hope you can do the same soon!
Oh good! I’m glad you are going ahead with a clothesline. I love mine and I love the scent of laundry that has dried in the open air. And, in all the years (34-35) that I’ve been hanging clothes in my backyard, I’ve only had maybe 2 times that birds have spoiled it! I’m not really impacted by the time change. Yes, I am sleeping in about an hour later, but hey! I’m retired, so no problem. I miss having dinner by candlelight, but Fletch is so happy with daylight later in the day. And with today’s forecast to be in the 60’s, he will be grilling again (hot and sweet sausage this time).
I had to laugh about circumventing Steve. (I am assuming he is your DH.) I know the feeling well. But when I try this, it sometimes leads to a fight.
I absolutely hate that “springing forward” and am always amazed at how many people A: think that it actually creates more daylight (the world was doing that on it’s own, y’all, you just got impatient?) and B: think that “Daylight Saving time” ENDED Saturday – for some reason there seems to be a growing number of people who think that “the saving” happens during the winter, which just breaks my brain. lol …
But really: the days were growing on their own, and there is something eternally dismal about forcing mornings back into darkness just to have the sun “set later” … sigh …
I think DST is really helpful for people who live in other parts of the country, I know Kym has talked about this before. It takes me a day or so to adjust, that’s for sure. Good luck with the clothesline, I think that’s a wonderful idea!
I hope you get your clothesline installed. With our allergies, hanging laundry out of doors doesn’t work for us. I miss it. I checked one thing off my list week by taking advantage of a shoe sale and buying my annual pair of new walking shoes.
Our change doesn’t happen for another 3 weeks…..and then you’ll hear moans and groans from this part of the world. Yes we’re back to ‘normal’ time but always one to swim upstream when others are going down I’m one who prefers the light at the end of the day.
Nature takes so much away from us during these months – warmth and light being a couple.
DST has had a long chequered career…..some parts of the world have abolished it (one of our states doesn’t use it)…..I don’t see it going away altogether
I can’t imagine living anywhere with no access to an outdoor washing line. I take it Steve is not that way inclined
I hope you get that clothesline. My dad just put one up the other day and is quite excited about it. I hope you are enjoying the weather while you are tired from the time change, I am!!
