Greetings dear Unravelers,
This post finds us at the last Wednesday of March… and I am wondering where did the month go? It does not seem possible that the month is almost over but the calendar tells me that next week is April!
I do indeed have a finished vest that I have worn A Lot! However, I don’t have any pictures to share… yet. Maybe next week… but I can share that it fits beautifully and I will absolutely knitting this pattern again. It is well written and beautifully constructed! I have plans for a “summer” vest out of Holst Coast, and I hope to get swatching soon-ish.
In the mean time, I did cast on for this vest. It has been too long since I have done any color work so I am having a bit of fun knitting these swirls!
My main excitement this week was the return of Mark Rylance and Wolf Hall on PBS! I am ignoring the fact that all the episodes are available via Passport on the PBS app and will ration them one a week to prolong my delight!
The reading has been so interesting as well, I am listening to Elizabeth DeLozier’s Eleanor of Avignon. I am immersed in the 1300’s and enjoying it… well, if one could say they are enjoying the plague! On my Kindle app, I am reading an advanced read copy of Daryl Gregory’s When We Were Real. I am about halfway through and I am not sure that I like the book, but it is certainly original! Oh, and there is a bit of a mystery… which is the thing keeping me reading! Ha! And, I am slowly savoring Robert Macfarlane’s The Old Ways: A Journey on Foot. It is the best escape book… meandering along with Robert as he walks about England… not a bad way to spend one’s time!
That is all I have for this week… what are you having fun making this week?
As always, if you wrote a post to share please leave your link below and thank you!
I look forward to seeing your vest pics in the coming days!
I love Daryl Gregory and have been lucky enough to get ARCs of his previous books. I have added this one to my TBR, although ti sounds very strange.
I think I spotted your finished vest on Zoom last night — and it looked great! I am really liking the multicolored yarn in your colorwork, too. You’re going to be the vest queen!
I really enjoy the look and artistry of simple colourwork as well as ‘complex’ fairisle. If you can count and carry two colours the world’s your oyster
Now I want to do curls and swirls but must concentrate on Mia’s Teddy jumper. Somehow I think you’ll be showing yours before me
Your “snail shell” vest is looking really good in that beautiful yarn! I wondered if you were wearing your vest last night but with all the secrets in The Secret History, I forgot to ask. I have lots of books in my queue, but I will have to add Robert Macfarlane to my tbr. He sounds like the perfect author to read when it all gets to be too much. Thanks for the recommendation!
I, too, spotted your vest last night on our Zoom call and meant to say something. It looked great Kat! And your latest vest start is wonderful. Love the spirals (or snail shells per Bonny!). I think that Macfarlane book might be a good one for Fletch and me to read together – I checked and I can get it from my library! I just finished The History of Sound (Ben Shattuck) and highly recommend.
I love your color work! I started a baby sweater for my niece but really should be finishing that second sleeve…
I love those colorwork swirls! I am reading The Favorites and not loving it but also not wanting to DNF so I’m plodding forward.
I sure like the colors in that colorwork vest. How pretty. All of these books sound intriguing. There are so many books and just not enough time to read them all.
I loved MacFarlane’s The Old Ways and I think I loved his book Underland even more! Those are two books I can pick up and re-read sections from time to time.
I really enjoyed Eleanor of Avignon – the setting, the time period, the topic. I mostly listened to it while walking in the woods and it was a lovely companion.
Can’t wait to see the vest!
I’m thinking I spied your new vest on the Zoom last night???? Maybe??? I love the swirls in your new project. That looks like lots of fun to knit. I haven’t started the new “season” of Wolf Hall, but haven’t had time to tune in yet.
