Greetings Gentle Unraveler’s!
After a brief reprieve of the heat and humidity on Tuesday, the temps will be soaring again starting today. Sigh. But, it is still July and I have finished my Ocean Waves Cowl and it has had a nice little soak and will now be tucked away for autumn! Of course, there is a mistake but when I noted it I was so far past the mistake that I was not ripping back. I believe it perfectly fits the time in which I knit it… lots of worries knit into every stitch… a good reminder that even in times of worry if you just keep going you will get through it!

I love how this yarn just seamlessly goes from the deepest grey to the brightest yellow. And I will be knitting this pattern again! It was so much fun!
I have begun the Great Baby Blanket Knit-a-thon… it feels so weird to be knitting on size US 11 needles but I am loving how fast each “stripe” is knitting up! I am currently able to get one stripe done in a days collected knitting time. A couple rows at a time and by the time I sit down at night to watch some television… I finish up the current stripe and get myself ready for the next days knitting! The yarn, Serif, is so soft and squishy and very easy on the hands for a cotton yarn! (Twin-ish blankets from Purl Soho, both blankets will have the same colors but in different order!)
The reading is going well. I finished The Helsinki Affair… and enjoyed it tremendously! It was the perfect “escape” read… and I loved how Pitoniak wrote this twisty tale moving between what is happening now and what happened before. If you like a good spy book… this one hits all the marks!
I immediately settled in with the next Chief Bruno book! It does feel good to be back in the south of France!

Ocean Waves looks marvelous Kat! (I love grey and yellow together) and the colors in your baby blanket look so sweet. With three grands on the way you will be in a blanket-a-thon for sure! Glad to hear you enjoyed The Helsinki Affair – I just picked that up from my library yesterday!
baby knitting is simply the best, I love how fast it knits up and to see the baby using or wearing the projects I’ve made.
The cowl is fabulous! The changing colors in the yarn and the mosaic pattern make for such an interesting piece. And the blanket looks so squishy! I don’t know that I’ve ever knit on size 11 needles, but I’m sure they take some getting used to — but it’d be worth it to see such fast progress!
Your cowl is gorgeous, and I love how well the yarn and pattern go together! Size 11 needles must feel like broomsticks, but you will have those blankets knit before the babies arrive. (Or before you need to start a third blanket.)
I can feel the squish of that yarn right through the computer screen, Kat! It’s going to be a gorgeous baby blanket! And I love the cowl. I think a good, old mistake is a good reminder that we are human . . . and that perfection is very much overrated. XO
Love the colour palate of both pieces. Baby knitting is so exciting. I was thrilled to read your news. And I have made it here for the first time this year.
OK. Must knit an Ocean Waves Cowl!! Your twin blankets are going to be wonderful — they’ll be so squishy & cozy.
Love a speedy, chunky knit! It does feel so different when you’ve come from a finer yarn but what quick results 😁
Cowl pattern is very cool. It is geometric in a good way. Beautiful knitting also.
Look at that gorgeous cowl. The colors are perfect together. You are probably the only one that will be able to see the mistake. Happy Baby Blanket knitting. Lately I’ve been perusing the Purl Soho website. They have interesting yarns and lovely patterns.
By the way, I had the same thought about Leaf, Cloud, Crow. The binding should have been different. I too loved The Comfort of Crows but this didn’t do much for me. I also wonder if I am not much of a “fill in the blank” journal writer. Perhaps I’m too opinionated or just have plenty of thoughts to jot down without a prompt.
I think that’s a lovely cowl, I love the combination of colors. And it sounds like you have a good plan for your baby blankets, too!
That cowl is so pretty. And I’m happy that you had something so lovely to pour your worries into. And I love your rhythm for your baby blanket – it sounds like a great routine!
