Greetings dearest Unraveler’s!
I have a second baby blanket finished!! I am quite happy with both of them and will be weaving in the ends later today so they can have a bit of a bath and then a tumble dry. I will be casting on this morning for my first Welcome to the Flock sweater! I will be making two pink sweaters and one green. And as you can see, I have a variety of choices for sheep colors! It will be my first time using Knitpicks Swish, which says it is machine washable. I will be making a swatch that I will “test wash” to see how it does. Keep your fingers crossed!
I am going to knit the sleeves for these little cardigans a bit differently… my plan is to do them as Julia did… two at once. I have printed out the pattern and notated it for the size I am knitting. Now all that is preventing me from casting on is to swatch for gauge!
I left Bruno in France and headed to England to spend some time with Susan Ryeland as she solves another mystery. I have just begun, so I have no thoughts yet on this third installment in the series.
At night, I am reading The Homemade God by Rachel Joyce. I am about 2/3’s through and am very much caught up in this family story… it is full of characters you’d like to dislike… but somehow, I am not disliking them at all. I am enjoying peeling back the layers to discover the secrets each character is holding.
What about you? What are you making or reading this week?
As always, if you wrote a post to share please leave your link below!

Congratulations on the second blanket finish! Those were fast. I cannot wait to see the Welcome to the Flock sweaters. They will be darling! I enjoyed The Homemade God when I read it. Joyce is so good at quirky characters, isn’t she? I just checked my library account and now 6 (!!!) books show as being shipped. Yikes! Feast or famine for sure.
You’ve done well to finish both blankets so quickly – I know you showed us one hanging on the line, hopefully you’ll pop out and snap both together.
In the meantime we’re all looking forward to seeing the little sheep wandering around the shoulders of the baby cardigans.
And I think you’ll be spending quite a bit of time with Susan….those books are enormous🤭
Oh and did you manage to sort out the clothes line issue with the handyman
Those are two delightfully squishy blankets and I know they hold much love for the twins. I’m continuing to send healthy growing thoughts to everyone concerned. I’m looking forward to seeing those sheepy sweaters! I was floundering looking for something to read before I remembered I had a whole series of Chief Bruno to catch up on, so now I’m thoroughly enjoying the second one.
You knit those blankets in record time! I can’t wait to see the sweaters take shape. I have knit with Swish and it’s a good choice for babies/little kids. I’ve found it does start to look a little worse for wear after a lot of washing, but baby sweaters are likely to be outgrown before that happens.
I have cast on another charity hat (it’s my go-to project to work on during puppy nap time) and am cruising down the body of my tank.
That stack of knitting and yarn is breathtaking! Congratulations on finishing both of those blankets 🙂
And that Rachel Joyce books sounds delightful. Thank you for recommending it!
What a beautiful stack of love sitting there in the photo. Those baby blankets look so cozy. I’ve enjoyed the sweaters I’ve knit from Swish for my grandchildren. They did need to be dried to regain it’s shape. The worsted weight makes great hats and mittens too. I look forward to seeing the little sweaters.
Your needles are on fire!!! I am so happy you are getting your baby projects done. I finished a sweater and am currently working on a little hat. I’ll be starting another sweater soon.
Such great baby blankets, Kat! Well done, YOU! They look welcoming and cozy and perfect for tiny ones. And the sweater plans sounds great. I have knit with Swish before (I think for a baby sweater, actually), and had great results. XO
I’ve had good luck with Knit Picks’ Swish, including machine washing and drying garments made with it. It is one of my favorite sock yarns.
