Greetings from a slightly less smoky Pittsburgh!
Slightly. We are supposed to be “yellow” for the next few days… a reprieve from purple and red! But even at yellow I am having issues breathing outdoors so modified walks will continue this week.
I would so love to hang towels and sheets on the line, but that seems like an unlikely occurrence… sigh. I put off washing the sheets last week… but this week “needs must” so in the dryer they will go.
I channeled a bit of Vera’s Baking over the weekend and made a peach tart (I totally cheated and used a frozen sheet of puff pastry…) Sorry I did not get a photo but trust me…it was so good and I was reminded how lovely it is to sometimes have dessert for supper in the summer! And that thread of thinking has me putting ice cream for dinner on my list this week! I think a trek to Sarris is in order!
But now, laundry is calling… see you all back here on Wednesday!

Oh my! A peach tart sounds wonderful…as well as ice cream for dinner! C&M have an ice cream shop within walking distance of their home and often till walk there (after dinner!). I do have a lot of blueberries on hand, so a blueberry crostata may be in order. And, for the record, there is nothing wrong with frozen puff pastry. Pastry is pastry and ALWAYS delicious!!
Mmm, peach tarts sounds like a taste of summer! I’m sorry the air quality is still impacting you, but it does feel very refreshing outside this morning. I’m hoping the smoke finally moves out this week.
I was not happy that i couldn’t hang laundry outside last week due to smoke, but at least my sore throat is gone. I think that was from smoke, but I guess I’ll see if/when it comes back again. I hope you have a lovely Monday, even if it’s yellow, but you can look forward to ice cream!
I am using my inhaler more so now than ever, and I wear a mask outside. I think it seeps into the house cracks anyways.
We have bad air today as well – Unhealthy and smelling like a campfire. I think our smoke is coming up from some big fires in central Oregon.
Your talk of peach tart reminds me that we haven’t had strawberry shortcake for dinner this year as yet. Almost all the food groups 😉
I think there is nothing better than summer desserts for dinner! What a lovely treat! XO
Summer peach tart sounds wonderful and the ice cream store looks quite decadent.
