Greetings Dear Unravelers and Happy Wednesday to you all!
This week I have been “enabled” …. yes, last week when Kym shared her Assigned Pooling project… I could hear my own assigned pooling project begin to cry from the project bag it was sitting in. Poor, sad, pitiful little thing… I did not even give it the curtesy of finishing the row I was working on before tucking it into a bag. Well, I pulled it out and have been giving it some attention…And a funny thing happened! Skein One is nearing its end and Skein Two is wound and ready to go! Now, I still have miles to go… but this shawl has begun to sing the song of autumn to me. These random blips scattered about remind me of autumn walks after a good rain. Where the leaves are pressed to the pavement and …if I close my eyes… I can even smell autumn as I work away on it.
And… in case you think that was all the enabling Kym did last week… think again! I also purchased the yarn to make a Wakebrite bandana (Thanks also to the expert enabling of Kay and Ann!) It is my prize for finishing the Blip Knitting… although I am not sure that a project that is knit entirely linen stitch classifies as a prize… but there you have it!
I seem to have bandana’s on the brain because I finished another Alabama Chanin bandana this week as well! I thought I was done with it on Sunday but as I looked at it, it needed something. What I really wanted was something yellow, but I had no yellow anything to add to it. Instead I added a bit of green… and I think it works. It is just enough of a difference between the navy, ochre, and black… and not a bead in sight. I really am happy with it! In just under 80 days I stitched and completed three AC projects (including one with LOTS of beads!)
Bandana number two… and I really am pleased with it!
(And yes, that second Summer Ranunculus was finished as well! Although, it needs a bit of a bath and a few ends woven in! Photos coming soon!)
The reading… well, I finished my immediate reread of Whistler yesterday and it was even better than it was the first time. And later this morning I will settle in with John of John to read it again before book club on September 15th. I loved this book the first time through and I am really looking forward to this second reading.

I definitely thought of leaves on the ground after rain when I looked at your WIP — maybe working on it will bring that lovely fall weather? Love that pop of green in the bandana. Can’t wait to see your finished Ranunculus!
I really hoped to listen to John of John for a reread, but I still have a very long wait on Libby. I’ll keep checking Hoopla to see if they get it in English.
I had completely forgotten that you were working on a Blip project of your own, but I’m glad to see that you’ve gotten it out to work on. Now that you’ve said it, those blips look just like wet leaves on the pavement on a nice cool autumn walk. Your completed bandana looks perfect with its green “asterisk” and I’m glad you’ll be exploring a knit bandana, too. (Better you than me with all that linen stitch!) I’m starting John of John this afternoon and looking forward to taking my time with it. I raced through it the first time and I know I missed things and have forgotten others.

Happy to oblige with the enabling, Kat. Sharing the bandana-love . . . and the linen stitch gets more intutive as you go, just sayin. (Although I still have a television ban when I’m doing it . . . ) Love your new stitched bandana, too. 🙂
Wow! You are definitely on a roll Kat. Your “blip shawl” will be gorgeous (and I can almost catch the scent of Autumn when I look at it!). Your recent bandana is wonderful – the green is perfect. I’m still in the long queue for John of John at my library. I thought of getting the audio version, but after sampling the preview, I found the accents were difficult. I may still end up doing that though.
I’m in a similar place with reading, although my first time through Whistler and John of John. Just finished The Longboat Summer on audio, an enjoyable one to listen to as I shuttle kids here and there. You and Kym’s comments on linen stitch make me feel better about the linen stitch washcloth I’d started for the fair- 1 of 2 needed for an entry- that I ripped out about an inch into the project! Switched to a basketweave pattern, and a new ball of yarn, as the other is a complete mess after ripping it out.
I am also on Team Bandanna and I love this one with the leaves. I am trying my hardest to focus on finishing my started projects however you and Kym are making it very difficult with your assigned pooling knits!
You got a lot done in a week! I love your shawl and bandana and I’m looking forward to seeing your other finished things, too.
