…finds Hobonichi Dreams circling round my head!
Yes, I have been attentively following along as the parade of options keeps inching forward to September 1st!
I have been thinking about what worked this year and what I wished worked better. I have loved the Mega Weeks this year but I am going to run out of pages… I know. It is a bit astounding to me as well… after all the Mega Weeks has 3 times the blank memo pages in the back of the book!! I have been contemplating how to work around this rather large hiccup…and what might work better next year.
Are you a planner person? Do you journal? Are you a multi-journal person? What works for you?
I’d love to know! Happy Monday everyone!

I’ve never been able to make a planner work for me. I start out with good intentions and then never follow through. I used to be a regular journaler, stopped for a while, restarted during the pandemic, and then dropped off again when we adopted Ruthie. But I really want to get back to it now and just need to find a way to fit it into my schedule again.
I am not much of a journal or planner person. In fact, I thought Hobonichi Dreams referred to some sort of Japanese stitching when I first read it. But after clicking on the link, I can see that it is definitely not that! I plan my grocery shopping and an occasional to-do list on old library date due cards, but that’s about it for me. I hope you figure something out for this year, and more importantly, find enough room for all of your thoughts and plans next year.
Gah! I love Hobonichi, i use a techo and a weeks and love both equally. I cannot wait for them to come out. I am a planner person and have many many journals that i write in. It all works for me!!
Definitely not a planner person! I remember when I started a job at a certain company everyone was given a planner and it felt like the first day of school (in a good way)…but I never got into using it and ended up trashing it. I have some “fun” and “pretty” notebooks that I use to keep a list of books I’ve read and another to keep some quotes, but that’s the extent of it.
I always wanted to use a planner and I’d buy yearly ones but never use them. This year I bought a small say 12 by 3 calendar where I put a check next to Knit, Read (with name and author of book), Hand Ex and Knee Ex to make sure I do my daily exercises for my arthritis. I end the day with putting down what meditation I did that day. I’m trying to figure out what I want to change next year, I did buy a planner for next year and am just planning how to use it so its quick and works for me.
I use an Anecdote planner along with the Good Day gratitude journal. These give me structure, but allow for some free journaling as well. I love journals and planners, and it’s taken me a long time to find one I can stick with. Meanwhile, I have a lot of pretty blank books on the shelf! 😄
Count me in as a journal/planner person. I have been journaling on the regular since I was in high school (and I still have those journals and they are PAINFUL(ly) funny to read. . . ). My ongoing, near-daily journals have morphed into more of a “morning pages” kind of thing over the years, and they have gotten me through many a mood. 😉 I also have an analog planner/calendar to track my days (but not a whole lot more), and a garden journal. I can’t imagine life without some sort of journaling going on. (I also think of my blog as a journal of sorts. Just . . . a highly curated one.) XO
Okay, first of all – don’t stress about running out of pages because you can tip in as many pages as you need and the weeks should be just fine. (ask me how I know LOL?) I am a journaler/planner and I used a generic blank page one for many years but I decided to try a dated planner a few years ago and I got a hobonichi weeks. I have used a cousin (A5 size) for the last 2 years and plan to use the same again next year. Sometimes having a page for every day is a lot but I always manage to fill it so it’s definitely not too much for me. I have ideas I’d be happy to share . . .
I’m missing some of your posts when I use Chrome, especially the Sometimes Monday. Safari is better -sometimes. The mysteries of cyberspace are beyond me. I am a journal person and can’t imagine life without one. I have a knitting/making journal, a reading journal, and a journal/journal. Three or four years ago, I ordered a leather cover so I can use inserts. When one is full, I insert another. The question is what to do with them. So far I’ve kept all of them but storage begins to be a problem and will my kids want them. Sometimes I do morning pages on a tablet but I shred those.
