Brings the last week of summer vacation… at least in my neighborhood. The kids all start back next week but the teachers around me all were off bright and early this morning.
I know we still have weeks of summer but this morning’s temps most definitely were inching into an autumnal feel… it was just 54°F when I headed out with Frankie in the much dimmer dawn. Yes, I put on a sweater but I should have worn socks as well! When I got back I traded my usual iced coffee for a steaming warm cup and it was exactly what I needed to warm up a bit! I have a couple of windows open and the AC is OFF!
Today I am taking full advantage of this drying weather and have laundry to get on the line!
I hope in your corner of the world it is as lovely a start! See you all back here on Wednesday with a finished object!!

A cooler morning here as well. I’m loving the crisp mornings!!
I welcomed our cooler weather here with open arms (and hopes that it might last). I also have laundry to hang out, but it looks like rain, so I’ll wait. Looking forward to seeing the FO!
The forecast for morning temps “up north” was 30s-40s! We’ll be heading up there in a couple of weeks. I pulled out a light sweatshirt over the weekend, though, and it was SO nice to turn off the air & fling open the windows & doors. The “end of summer” sure seemed to come quick this year!
I was cold outside with Ruthie this morning — and I loved it! I also wore a long-sleeved shirt for my run and was able to run for much longer than usual thanks to the cool, dry air. I hope this weather sticks around for a while! I would be happy to turn off the AC and open the windows, but between our allergies and all the construction in the neighborhood, I think we’ll keep it on mainly for air filtering purposes.
My daughters went back yesterday (although, since Hannah is an administrator she works year round anyway) and the kids at their school start tomorrow. Dale goes back next week and it’s a full 5 day week! I love late summer weather, cool crisp mornings and warm afternoons, it’s my favorite.
Fifty four degrees sounds like a luxury in August. We have slightly cooler weather here but not that cool. I hope you were able to get your laundry out to dry.
our neighborhood started this past week, it was bittersweet to see the school bus on my walks. I loved the cool weather and am very sad the heat is returning but I know it is short lived as we head towards September.
