Greetings dear Unravelers and Happy September!
I have been knitting and knitting and knitting… and I still have miles to go on the body of the Waffle Pullover. Each night, after dinner is done and dusted… I queue up a bit of Vera Stanhope and for roughly 90 minutes, I knit. And in those 90 minutes I maybe get an inch or so knit. Sigh. I am reminding myself that even an inch is progress… but the struggle is real! Dare I say I am eager for the sleeves from the simple fact that the rounds will be shorter?
And, because I have lots of doctor-y things coming up this month, I figured I better have a “simple knitting project” so I spent some time on Sunday casting on a new sock with the latest installment from the Farmers Daughter Fibers Sock Club. The color way is Quartz Sky and I am knitting Denise De Santis’ new pattern, Cuff Link Socks. I am calling these socks… Dreams of Summer Socks… perfect for this time of straddling the seasons. Even with knitting two cuffs, I quickly got them to the “mindless” knit stage that is just what I need for waiting room knitting.
I have one finished book this week… and it is a very good book at that! I listened to Matt Haig’s The Midnight Train and I loved it. I found Wilbur particularly delightful and I loved the idea of looking at a life’s success from two different paths. If you liked The Midnight Library, I think you will enjoy The Midnight Train!
One other fun thing happened on Monday, I looked out the back window and saw a bunch of Red-eyed Vireo’s all taking turns in the bird bath. I have not seen any all summer so these must have been making a stop on their migration south! It was a delightful treat to close out August!
I hope this week holds a few delightful things for you as well!
As always, if you wrote a post to share please leave your link below and thank you!

Your feelings about the Waffle are similar to my feelings about Semplice! It just goes on and on and on…Your new start on socks is so pretty. I’m trying out a new-to-me author with a mystery…no opinion yet (only 30 pages or so in), but I have another Bruno book waiting on my nightstand in case I don’t enjoy this new book.
Oh, an inch per night on a pullover is GREAT progress, Kat! (Just wait till you start that linen stitch bandana . . . ) 😉 As you knit away on your Waffle, just know that I’m plugging away on my own right along with you. Progress is progress — and so much easier when shared with a friend. And those socks looks fun! Love the pink. XO
What pretty socks! An inch might not seem like much progress, but it will add up, and I’m sure you’ll be done with the body before you know it!
I saw that sock pattern and it looks interesting. Your colors are perfect together. An inch of progress is an inch of progress. I think you must be in that “black hole” of a knitting project where you knit and knit and knit and don’t seem to get anywhere. Hooray for Vera as company. I’ve had a bunch of “doctor-y” things myself with one more – a bone density scan- tomorrow. Seems like the maintenance these days takes more time.
Your sweater colors are beautiful and an inch is progress. I love those socks. It may be time to knit myself some after many years of no sock knitting.
Glad to hear you liked The Midnight Train. I loved The Midnight Library and it was the first book we read at our local book club. I have it waiting and will have to push it up the list this fall.
Good luck with all those appointments. I take a book to read whilst I wait in these circumstances- lost myself on the Yorkshire moors recently waiting for the hygienist . I love the colour of your yarn in the picture, and what you have called the project. I am trying really hard to embrace Autumn- apparently the colour we need is Orange! Not my favourite colour by a long way! Really hoping for an Indian Summer.
Gorgeous socks on the needles!! I’ve never seen that bird in my yard, ever. But I want to!! I hope you get to the sleeves soon. I don’t mind long knitting unless I have a deadline, which I rarely do, deadlines make it not fun knitting.
