Hello everyone – Sam has 2 more days of driver’s training…2 more days! It will be nice to have this aspect of parenting completed! It has gotten easier with each child – so I am happy to be finished running back and forth to get him there at the various hours the driving school determined. I am quite sure that the driving school has no concept of time – the schedule has made working a challenge! But, as long as Sam passes his written test tomorrow – he will have his driving permit! Now, this is a very good thing – Sam driving equals knitting time for me!! Woo Hoo!
Speaking of knitting time, I have been working sporadically on Chapeau Marnier – I have about an inch to go before the decreases! I also have been working sporadically on my Monkey socks! I have to sit at a home for the Holland Parade of Homes for the next few nights – so my knitting time will increase hopefully! I will soon be posting completed objects!
I have also been working a bit on my package for my partner in Lynne’s Special Swap – June is gardening month and I have been finding fun things to put in my package. It will be ready to go by month end – a package filled with garden treasures!
How is your spring ending – summer officially starts tomorrow! What fun things do you have planned? I am going to San Diego in July for a few days – more on that later. I have never been to San Diego – any one know of any “knit spots” there?
Have a great Wednesday everyone – get out there and enjoy the weather!!
Ah… driver’s ed. That brought back memories!
I had gone over to the dark side (crochet) for many years. I started knitting again when my son was learning to drive. I needed something to keep my hands busy so I didn’t grab for the steering wheel or clutch the door handle with white knuckles. My first driver’s ed project was, strangely enough, a pair of socks. A pair of very, very bad socks knit in acrylic yarn that were way too big for me. I sometimes bring them to my classes when students are discouraged because nothing they knit could be as bad as those socks.
Never been to San Diego, but I am headed to Florida end of June. Just took 4 kids to Holiday World (a local amusement/water park) today. I guess I forgot to wait for summer!
I am 3 years away from the driving begin and 6 years from its end. Don’t understand why they can’t just learn to walk from here to there!
Hello – I’ve been browsing your neat blog and admiring the wobbly bag you did. Another pattern interested me too, from early in your archives…a lovely rust-coloured shrug. Did it ever become a knit-a-long? I’m thinking a niece of mine would love a shrug like that, and I’m wondering where to get the pattern for it?
Trying to do a thing or so a week together as a family. Went to the racetrack last week. This week a ballgame in Chicago where I am no longer a fan but my family continues to be. Campfires in the yard. Family visiting over the 4th.
HOpe to fish. KNIT KNIT KNIT. Stitches Midwest in August for stashology.

I am not sure of knitshops in San Diego (pretty city — I visited once and you will love it) but Theresa of Knitting Underway lives there and she probably can recommend some good places for you!
The main thing this summer is our move to a new house. It’s only 45 min away thank goodness. I also want to get to the beach and do more reading and knitting!
