Happy Friday, everyone! Another week done and despite my desire to slow down and enjoy these last weeks of 2018 – the calendar seems to have a different agenda!
So, I guess that means I need to actually figure out what Steve and I are going to have for Thanksgiving, so I can get to the store this weekend to avoid the utter insanity that next week will be!
I did one huge happy dance yesterday when I finished plying up my singles. This yarn is EXACTLY what I was hoping for and it seems my planning worked out very well! It needs a nice hot bath and some finishing but, skein one is done!
Thinking about – Christmas!! Yes, I have some shopping to do but what I am really thinking about is how much I want to decorate the house. Crazy ideas are swirling through my head… do we want to put up the tree this year? Lights outside? If we don’t put up the tree, what will that look like…and maybe more importantly, what will that feel like?
Grateful for – Steve’s saved vacation days…he has a 6-day weekend next week, starting on Wednesday and ending on Monday. And, yes, there will even be gratitude when he goes back to work on Tuesday!
Inspired by –
All the things in Making No. 6 / Black & White. This might be my favorite issue thus far and I am especially loving all the sewing patterns! I am going to put this little stack of fat quarters to use and soon! I have some Christmas-y plans for these cute little zippered bags! And, there is the most beautiful apron pattern with a patchwork pocket!
Fun, fun, fun – Last weekend felt a bit “non-stop” and so this weekend I am really looking forward to a more relaxed pace… time at home… and today I am going to spend some time creating a couple of Christmas play lists on Spotify to celebrate the season! And, that leads me to this burning question…. what is your “must have” song for your Christmas play list?
Happy weekend everyone! See you all back here on Monday!
Your finished handspun is beautiful! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Beautiful handspun Kat! Congratulations.
One of my most favorite Christmas songs is “Snow” by Loreena McKinnett. Actually – I love that song year-round!
Your handsome turned out perfectly. So pretty.
My favorite Christmas song: She’s Coming Back by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
My song for Christmas playlist is nothing. LOL Actually, I love River by Joni Mitchell. I’m planning Christmas decor, too. Lights and snowflakes! I LOVE Making Black and White. I have the kit for the little sheep! Can’t wait to tackle them.
I’m making my grocery list this morning and getting ready to hit the store. I know I’ll forget stuff but at least the bulk of it will be done. I’m not cooking on Thanksgiving (just pies) but we’re having Friendsgiving tomorrow!
Yes! I have some B&W fat quarters, too, and I love so many of those patterns! I am not listening to Christmas music yet, but if I was… Leslie Odom Jr. was a favorite last year! This year, I am looking forward to listening to new Christmas albums (haha) from Eric Clapton and Rodney Crowell!
I have a couple of favorites.
Mele Kalikimaka by Jimmy Buffet and
Santa Claus is Coming to Town by Bruce Springsteen
We didn’t put up a tree last year for the first time ever . . . and it felt GREAT. Absolutely GREAT. I didn’t miss it in any way. (I made up for it with pointsettias and lots of fairy lights and other holiday goodies.) (Not putting one up this year either.) As for favorite Christmas song? I always love The Christmas Song (. . . chestnuts roasting on an open fire. . . ) have a great weekend, Kat. XO
David Bowie and Bing Crosby Little Drummer Boy is a must for me and the Band Aid 1984 song are musts for me. (And I’m not a real fan of Christmas music until December 20th!) Your yarn is beautiful and have a wonderful weekend!
oh my gosh! I am thinking of putting up a smaller tree because of Holly the cat and her inquisitiveness. I’ve been spending loads of time mulling over my ideas too 🙂
awe, my must have Christmas songs are from the Peanuts gang. I love all of those songs. I start listening to Christmas music on Thanksgiving .
Gorgeous handspun! We haven’t put up a tree for a few years, but this year I decided that I miss it (actually I miss a way to display all the family ornaments), so I think there will be a tree this year. It may be the first year for a fake tree …
Oh what a beautiful skein, Kat! and a most inspiring stack of black and white fabric (this latest Making really did hit it out of the park!) … hope you’re enjoying the weekend! (and sorry, not ready to think about Christmas …decorations, songs, gifts – any of it – not yet!)
