What 10 below looks like…

Winter is wreaking havoc here in my little corner of the world. When I woke up this morning, the air temperature was about 10 below.

It has managed to inch its way up to 16 out, not quite a heat wave, but at least it is working in the right direction!

Up next, a big bowl of homemade split pea soup and some fresh, hot, homemade crusty bread.

If it cannot be warm outside, at least I will be warm inside.

Life in the Cross-hairs

Bigotry [big-uh-tree] – noun – (the) stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one’s own.

“When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous, and unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” – Clarence Dupnik, Pima County Sherriff.

I am shocked, stunned, and heart-broken at the events that transpired yesterday in Tucson, Arizona, as should every single American.

So how did we come to this place – a place in which we believe there is nothing wrong with putting a map on your website with cross-hairs on the political opponents you would like to see eliminated or where an elected official can tell their constituents that she wants them “armed and dangerous?”

In the stillness of the morning…

In the stillness of the morning…

This was the scene that greeted me when I woke this morning.

We are again blanketed in snow and more is on the way.

While it is bitterly cold out, there was something strangely comforting about the hushed stillness of the morning.

Plus, after being outside to snap a few photos – a steaming mug of hot coffee was all the more appreciated when I came in!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Republican'ts

The Party of No is becoming the Party of Can’t!

That is right, the GOP who gained some great satisfaction in saying “no, no, no” to almost everything is about to become the Party of Can’t in a big way.

It seems, my fellow American, that unless you are fortunate to have health insurance coverage from your employer, the GOP is going to do everything in their power to overturn “Obama-care.”

It is a bit like a Seinfeld episode gone badly with the GOP in the role of the Soup Nazi and they are yelling “No insurance for you!”

Because after all, a nation that cares for the health and well-being of its citizens is not realistic. It just can’t be done!
