Red Sky at Night…

Red Sky at Night…

Red Sky at Night…, originally uploaded by As Kat Knits.

Friday was a whirl-wind day. I worked a split and had lunch with a friend whom I had not seen for far too long. Cabboy and I had lunch at the New Holland Brewery and was it good! Conversation and food were a welcome respite from an otherwise hectic day.

Later that night a big storm blew through Holland, and while we missed the brunt of the storms damage, it deposited a good amount of rain on us.

However, as I arrived home this lovely sunset was turning the sky red and this morning blue skies greeted me filled with big, fluffy clouds.

Here is hoping your weekend is just as rosy! Go out there and find something to delight in!

Waterloo

Waterloo

I have found my Knitter’s Waterloo much to my chagrin.

I am admitting defeat, waving the white flag, throwing in the towel – or shawl as maybe the case in this instance.

I have cast on and now frogged for the third and last time Knitty’s Annis.

My heart hurts and my pride stings.

The nupps were not my downfall, my fiber choice was.

Sea Silk just is not my friend. Gauge was not my friend in this piece either, as I could not maintain a consistent gauge with the Sea Silk.

I am in awe of knitters like Amy Singer who can knit amazing creations with Sea Silk.

I love how the yarn looks…the color way is gorgeous. I hate how it feels in my hands as I knit it. I hate how it feels knitted up.

The reality is simple this I am a wool girl. I love how it feels, I love how it smells, and more importantly, I know what it is going to do when I knit it.

So much for a breezy summer knit gracing my needles this summer.

Cat comes on little rainy feet…

Cat comes on little rainy feet…

It has been an interesting week here at Casa del KatKnits, one with teasing glimpses at the sun bookended by gloomy, grey, rainy, and cold days.

Monday was one such gloomy and wet day, but waking at my usual hour I set about to brew some coffee and what to my wondering ears did I hear?

A cat was hanging from my back screen door meowing miserably outside in the chilly, grey, dampness of dawn. Her plaintiff cries were not quite enough to overcome the fact that she was doing a remarkably wonderful job of slicing up my screen.

However, she was persistent and when she was still miserably meowing some 2 hours later and with threatening skies, I took pity on her, put her in the garage, and headed off to Job #1.

Upon arrival home from Job #2 some hours later in the day, the rain was showing no signs of letting up at all. I let the little imp in the house for the night and set out the next morning to pick up a bit of cat food for her.

Today, she has been bathed, had her toenails trimmed and it appears she is staying.

She certainly does not look like she is in a hurry to leave, does she?

Now what do you think I should name her? I am looking for suggestions, Gentle Reader!

Here is some perhaps pertinent information about her to assist you in your challenge:

She is milky white, with some black spots. She has a Siamese-ish face, and she follows me about as if she is a dog.

Therefore, we implore you; please leave us a comment here with your name suggestions…

The Joys of Nepotism

The Joys of Nepotism

Work has become the bane of my existence.

Summer has arrived and with it the influx of the management’s offspring who all “work” at the restaurant.

I have learned that work is a relative term. Relative to whom one is related.

However, having dinner with a lovely and dear friend the other night I discovered The Elixir of the Gods!

This is mighty good people. My profound thanks to the folks at Southern Tier Brewing Company for creating such an amazing concoction that with every sip pushes all thoughts of work further and further from my mind.

Just what the doctor ordered…have a great weekend everyone!

Going Bananas

Going Bananas

It was a lazy Sunday here at Casa del KatKnits, it was a rare day off and I caught up on some laundry and a very tiny bit of housework.

And, I baked… yes, that is right, I baked.

I had some bananas that were nicely ripe and found this recipe on the internet, which fit the bill perfectly.

The result was this lovely loaf.

Up next, a wee bit of knitting on my latest project that I cast on today… Knitty’s Summer Surprise, Annis.
