Snowy Memories

Snowy Memories

With the potential for “Snowmageddon” for much of the east coast, today seemed like a good day to remember winter vacations in northern Michigan and skiing at the now long closed Sugarloaf Resort in Cedar.

It was where we learned to ski. My kiddos were much better than I was, and they all quickly surpassed me with their skiing prowess! They still ski, me not so much at all anymore.

I think Heidi was five in this photo in the winter of 1995-1996.

I did love this resort, and my favorite – Ridge Runner – was over a mile and a half of gently sloping terrain, winding through beautiful woodlands and views of Good Harbor Bay in Lake Michigan, which you can see in this photo.

It was such a spectacularly beautiful place.

Today, it seems like yesterday and the memories warm my heart.

December To Remember

December To Remember

On a day for remembering all that was good about the past year, December had so many good things on that list!
May you have a safe and happy New Years Eve!
On the Monday before Christmas

On the Monday before Christmas

Monday’s arrival was inevitable despite a weekend of fun that included seeing the new Star Wars movie (which, by the way, was fantastic), mailing packages off to the kids for Christmas, doing a bit of shopping, and warping my loom for a new weaving project.

The weekend also included some delicious Roasted Poblano Corn Chowder. So good and easy, made even better by the use of ingredients I preserved!

My list for today includes things from the mundane task of laundry to the making a new (and exotic) chicken recipe for dinner, with a bit of weaving and some knitting thrown in for good measure.

Hope your Monday is painless!
