When All Else Fails

After yesterday’s post, this week’s 10 on Tuesday from Carole might be just what Santa ordered – 10 Gifts You Can Pick Up at the Grocery Store.

This could come in very handy in the 10 remaining days before Christmas!

  • Wine! Although you cannot get this at a grocery store in PA, you could stop at the Wine and Spirits store and get a nice bottle of wine (as well as something with a bit more kick for yourself, if need be)
  • Beer, which you can get at some grocery stores in PA! Luckily there are dozens of holiday beers to enrich every palate.
  • Cheese, cured meats, and crackers. Bonus in that most stores have holiday themed cheese trays available this time of year.
  • Holiday Coffee’s for the coffee lover on your list! You could even add in a nice mug or two!
  • No coffee lover’s on your list? No problem – you can get Holiday Tea’s as well.
  • Christmas Cookies! You can even get a holiday container to put them in and none will be the wiser that you did not bake them yourself, and I won’t ever tell.
  • Nuts. This would go especially well with gifts one, two, and three!
  • Fresh fruit baskets are thankfully at every market this time of year.
  • Is there a baker or a want-to-be baker on your list? Take your favorite recipe and get all the ingredients to make it – you might even be able to pick up a festive bag to put them all in as well!
  • If none of these ideas work, you can always get a gift card to all sorts of places!

There you go, Gentle Reader, if you’re feeling the pressure of failing – FEAR NOT and just go shopping!

On Being Fearless

I think fearless is having fears but jumping anyway. – Taylor Swift

Eleven days before Christmas, and I am not done with my Christmas shopping OR the Christmas Gift making. But, perhaps this will help my list stop growing and start to decline! And, if that won’t work then perhaps knitting mittens will help, bonus in that Tin Can Knits has a treat today which might be just what we all need!

Is panic setting in? Perhaps, but I am determined to get things completed.

And I am up early, caffeinated, and possessing a full Netflix queue.

Christmas is not for the faint of heart, Gentle Reader.

Have a good Monday!

Finally! TGIF!!

Finally! TGIF!!

It was a long week, but Friday has finally arrived!
I, for one, am starting the weekend early and I suggest you do the same.
Tis the season, Gentle Reader, so turn on some holiday music, light a candle or two, and enjoy!

When You Need a Weekend from Your Weekend

When You Need a Weekend from Your Weekend

This time of year brings lots of increased activity, especially on the weekends, so normal weekend tasks go right out the window. I don’t mind the activity, but a jam-packed weekend makes  for a Monday that is more unpalatable than usual.

This weekend was one that will make Monday a challenge. All. Day. Long.

And, since most of the “regular weekend tasks” were largely ignored, I am starting today with a to-do list that is monumental. Queue the super-grande coffee with an extra dose of caffeine and some Christmas music turned up loud to get this Monday started!

But, before I jump head first in to Monday, here is all the fun that the weekend was!

Be Still Sunday

Be Still Sunday

I am singing in a Christmas Concert today so there will be very little stillness in my world.
By the end of the day though, I will hopefully be sitting on my sofa enjoying the Christmas that is all around me, with some Christmas knitting in my hands.
I just love this time of year!
Sheepspot Montadale Review

Sheepspot Montadale Review

I made the decision to be in only one fiber club this year, the Sheepspot Breed Club with the addition of the Breed School – it cost a little bit more, but what I am learning is invaluable.

The second installment was Montadale that Sasha got at MDSW. I saw the fiber there and it was lovely! I was thrilled to learn that I would have the opportunity to try this fiber. The fiber was dyed beautifully – I selected the Autumn Wedding colorway. The fiber was processed nicely, although there were a few bits that appeared to be second cuts. I am not sure, but they were easy to remove and I had less than a dozen of them in the first braid. However, these bits did not impede my spinning in anyway at all; I was able to maintain good consistency by removing them as I spun.
