Global Warming?

Hello Everyone!

Well, all the snow is gone away.

It is over 50 degrees out.

And it is January 7.

And, it has been raining steadily all morning.

Can someone please tell me if I should be wearing spring clothing or winter woolies????

Odd weather, that is for sure!

On the sporting front – tonight is the BCS Championship Game – Ohio State vs. LSU.  I don’t think I have to tell you all that I will not be rooting for OSU.  It will be a fun evening – I plan to spin the night away – and cheer the LSU Tigers on!

I also need to pull out some of my languishing WIP’s – the time for hibernation is over.  They need to come off the needles and be finished.  I also have signed up for a Manos Afgan Class – not that I need a class on afgan blocks – but the motivation will be good.  I am doing this with Blogless Mary and Ann at Country Needle Works in Grandville.  I am looking forward to one Saturday a month and some knitting fellowship with Mary and Ann.  Mary, over-acheiver that she is, already has square #1 almost done.

I also saw the “Great American Afgan” worked up at Threadbear yesterday – wow, that is truly gorgeous.  I have not had much interest in the pattern – I am not a fan of off-white at all.  This sample was worked up in a heathery green Cascade Superwash – and it was truly lovely.  I will have to let this mull around in my head for a bit.  Hmmmmm……

Alright, I am off to get the day rolling.  Have a good one all!

It's all about Alice…

It's all about Alice…

Hello Everyone!

Shhhhhh…. don’t tell anyone, but I escaped today with Alice.

Yes, we ran away together – to Lansing – to St. Distaff’s Day – at Threadbear.

Alice loved it there.  We walked in the door and the aroma of sheepy-ness was a fragrant perfume wafting over us.  Alice was quivering with excitement!  With her encouragement, I purchased my very first fleece in grease.  Some truly lovely caramel colored Shetland – from a very sweet sheep named Shannon.

There was some gorgeous black wool from a sheep named Alice – but my Alice would not hear of it.

She is The Only Alice.

So, we brought Shannon home instead.

We had a marvelous time, Alice and I.  Time in quiet meditation, spinning together.

And, I am finding that in my quest to participate in Blog 365, I am thinking much more during the day about writing.

This is also my first photo for the ABC Along I am participating in!

I hope your weekend was restful, relaxing, and that you are rejuvinated for the week ahead.

Catitude…

Catitude…

Hello Everyone!  It has been a relaxing weekend – for me and for the wee beasties that abide here!  I got the cats a “scratching board” complete with catnip.

While Noel was totally aloof to the new item – Maddie was purely hedonistic – or is that catonistic!  She promptly layed down on top of the scratcher and began to purr so loudly, I wish I could have recorded her.  My son laughed hysterically at our “stoned cat”.  Proof is in the picture –

—Yes, my eyes are rolled back in my head – what’s that flash?????

We laughed for a good long time at her antics.  Crazy cat!

As for me – Alice and I spent some quality time together this afternoon!  I have been plying up some singles.  And, I will be filling those bobbins right back up – I am heading over to Lansing tomorrow to celebrate Distaff’s Day with the spinners over there.

The weather has warmed up – we were a balmy 42 degrees out today!  And, it is supposed to be even warmer tomorrow.  All that wintry whiteness is melting away.  We have thunderstorms in the forecast for Monday.  Yes, you read that right – thunderstorms!

Have a great evening everyone!

Nordic Wonderland

Nordic Wonderland

Hello Everyone!  Okay, I have a severe case of Knitter’s Cast On Disorder!  Last night before Knit night I began to cast on the Nordic Star Socks from Vogue Knittings “The Ultimate Socks Book”.

I have just finished the first pattern set and am ready to begin the second pattern sequence.  Yarn – Louet Gems – French Blue and an ivory shade.

I think they are looking lovely!  And they are so nice and thick – while not feeling bulky at all!!

Epiphany is tomorrow, which means that Sunday is Saint Distaff Day!  All you spinners out there – get ready!  And, if you are in the area, Threadbear will be having a wee bit of a celebration that day!  Stop on by – even if you are not a spinner!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey, it's cold outside!

Hello everyone.

Well, if nothing ever was going to motivate me to finish the sweaters that are languishing on my knitting needles, surely today made a valiant effort!

People, the temperature never got over 20 degrees outside today.

My poor furnace ran all day.

This is most certainly is not the norm for West Michigan – you see, Lovely Lake Michigan keeps us warmer in the winter months.  We usually are hovering right around 30 degrees.  So, when the winds blow cold and the temperature drops, I am not anxious to leave the house for much of anything.

But, I did head out to Knit Night tonight.  You all know the Knitters Motto – neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor cold, nor children, nor anything shall keep the knitter from Knit Night!  And, we had a gang buster of a crowd tonight!!  We almost ran out of chairs!!  A nice way to wind down the week!

And, I am ready for Friday.  More than ready.

Have a safe evening all.

Day 2 and counting….

Hello Everyone!  I had such an awesome time yesterday with Sarah!  We talked, and talked, and talked, and talked – and then we talked some more!

And – this was all wine free talking!  (Sarah, next time – bring on the wine!!  Who know’s how long we could talk then????)

I have not had that much fun in – oh, for sure ages!

I am officially adopting Sarah as my sister.

You are all the first to know!

Not only is my sister a fun dinner companion – she is one heck of a knitter – I can now aspire to be like her!  Unfortunately, she is also the YOUNGER sister!  Hmmm, not sure how I will work on that one!

Today, I worked my little fingers to the bone – counting yarn at Friends of Wool.

All I can say is I am glad I did not have to count the yarn at my house – I would not be posting this now if I was!

News for tomorrow – I find out my “ACT” score.  Be still my beating heart – you think I passed?

Have a great evening all!
